The ailing Kulsoom Nawaz, the wife of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, showed slight signs of improvement on Thursday, with Maryam Nawaz saying that her mother opened eyes ‘for a few seconds’.
“[This is the] first time in 30 days that ami opened eyes for a few seconds. Don’t know if she saw or registered us. Still not conscious and on the ventilator. Prayers solicited,” Maryam said on Twitter.

Maryam’s brother, Hussain Nawaz, also confirmed this while speaking to reporters. “Thank God she has opened her eyes today after a month,” he said.
“The doctors had reduced her ventilator settings and sedatives… I have nothing more to share with for now,” he said.
Nawaz and his children are in London to be with Kulsoom, who is receiving treatment for cancer.
On Wednesday, the ex-premier announced that he would return to Pakistan on Friday (July 13) despite being sentenced to 10 years in prison.
