Ishaq Dar has three days to make sure his passport isn’t cancelled

July 9, 2018

Former finance minister Ishaq Dar has been given till July 12 to appear before the Supreme Court otherwise his passport will be cancelled.

He has been asked to appear before the SC multiple times in a case relating to the appointment of Ataul Haq Qasmi as the managing director of PTV.

Dar has been given one last chance to appear before the court. Chief Justice said that if the former finance minister does not present himself before the court in three days, his passport will be cancelled.

If needed, a red warrant can also be issued, warned the CJ. He expressed his annoyance over Dar not following court orders.

He submits old medical certificates every time, observed Justice Nisar, adding that despite the multiple summons, he had not appeared before the court and nor had his lawyer.

Disobeying court orders is not a joke, cautioned the top judge.

The interior secretary attended the hearing and the court asked the procedure for obtaining Interpol’s help to bring Dar back to Pakistan.
