An eight-year-old boy drowned at Karachi’s Sandspit Beach on Sunday.

Workers from rescue services searched the beach for his body for hours.

According to them, the boy, eight-year-old Meesum, came to the beach with his family for a picnic.

He was swimming in the water when a strong current carried him away. The family lives in Karachi's Shah Faisal Colony.

After he was swept away, members of his family tried to rescue him but were unsuccessful.
