Senator Raza Rabbani has raised questions about the role of the election commission as he pointed out that PML-N workers are being targeted by the police.

He was speaking during a Senate session on Saturday.

Rabbani, a member of the PPP, also questioned whether the accountability process is being used for political victimisation as "only two parties are being targeted".

He also asked under what law bank employees and army personnel have been deputed for election duties.

“Did the ECP really give the army magisterial powers?” Rabbani questioned. He also asked why the ECP was silent over the muzzling of the media.

‘Punjab caretaker home minister should resign’

PPP Senator Sherry Rehaman demanded that the caretaker Punjab home minister should resign for removing the names of proscribed organisations from the Fourth Schedule.

Expressing his reservations regarding the candidates of banned outfits contesting the elections, Rabbani asked what law they are being allowed to contest the polls under.

‘Terrorists are being made into politicians and vice versa’

PML-N leader and Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that politicians are being made into terrorists while terrorists are being allowed to become politicians.

Rashid demanded that the chief election commissioner and NAB chairperson be called to the Senate.

He also questioned who the caretaker Punjab chief minister is to say that PTI will secure more seats that PML-N in elections.
