Disgruntled PML-N leader Zaeem Qadri has announced that he will register a new political party with the Election Commission of Pakistan after July 25 elections.
Mr. Qadri said he will get Muslim League (Nazaryati) registered in the ECP after the elections.
Sources said Qadri has also contacted estranged PML-N leaders Chaudhry Nisar and Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor and invited them to join his group.
“Zaeem Qadri’s approached Chaudhry Nisar through a mutal friend,” the source said.
In a press conference on June 21, Zaeem Qadri had announced that he was parting ways with the PML-N and would contest election independently from NA-133.
Qadri was at loggerheads with Hamza Shehbaz Sharif over the distribution of election tickets. “Lahore doesn’t belong to your father,” Qadri told the media.
The PML-N said Mr. Qadri and his wife were awarded the provincial assembly tickets but the disgruntled leader wanted a ticket for NA constituency.
Sources said Zaeem Qadri is contacting other disgruntled leaders and may launch an independent group against the PML-N in Punjab.
Sources close to Zaeem Qadri told SAMAA that many members of PML-N from Lahore and Hafizabad have assured their support to Zaeem Qadri.
Zaeem Qadri claimed that some old PML-N members from Sialkot have also assured their support for him after he parted ways with the party.
