Former PM Nawaz Sharif is not linked to the London properties, his lawyer told a court on Friday.
The lawyer, Amjad Pervaiz, was presenting his arguments before the accountability court hearing the Avenfield reference case. Avenfield reference is one of the three corruption references filed against the former PM and his family after the Supreme Court disqualified him from holding public office in the Panama Papers case.
“Nawaz Sharif is neither the owner nor the occupant of the London flats,” he said. “The Sharif family may have some link to the properties. Nawaz Sharif does not.”
The court granted another day’s exemption from appearance to Mr Sharif and his daughter, Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The two have been in London since June 15 to attend to Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, who has been on life support at Harley Street Clinic since June 14.
