In a video message to workers of the MQM, former MPA Irum Azeem Farooque has leveled allegations of nepotism against leaders of the party.

She said only ‘favoured’ female workers are given tickets by party leaders and those that raise their voices are kicked out of the party.

She mentioned party leader Amir Khan and said his bank accounts should be checked as should his sources of income. She also said that his brother, who works at the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, has built a house on a 1,000-square-yard plot in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

In the video, she questioned how an employee of the water board is able to afford a 1,000-square-yard plot and said the issue should be investigated.

Farooque praised Shahid Pasha’s move to form a workers’ committee and said she would support it to remove the bad eggs from the party.

She also criticised Sattar for reconcillnig with the Bahadurabad faction.
