Imran Khan gets green signal to contest polls from NA-53

An election tribunal of the Islamabad High Court overturned on Wednesday the decision of the returning officer (RO) from NA-53 and cleared PTI chief Imran to contest the polls.

Imran’s nomination papers were rejected by the returning officer after he failed to complete the affidavit that had to be submitted with the papers.

The PTI chief appeared in person and filled Clause N of the affidavit. He mentioned that he has build the Shaukat Khanam Hospital and NUML University as his contributions for the benefit of his constituency.

Earlier on Tuesday, the tribunal also cleared former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and defunct PTI leader Ayesha Gulalai to contest the elections from NA-53.
