The Lahore High Court gave on Thursday PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry the go-ahead to contest the election from Jhelum.
“The election tribunal’s decision was ridiculous,” said Chaudhry.
On Wednesday, an election tribunal rejected the nomination papers of the PTI spokesperson for NA-67 Jhelum. The panel also disqualified him from holding any public office for life under Article 62 (1)(f) of the Constitution.
Fakhar Abbas Kazmi from former CJ Iftikhar Chaudhry’s Justice and Democratic Party had challenged Chaudhry’s candidacy before the election tribunal. According to him, Chaudhry had not paid the tax on his agricultural land.
