Akhtar Mengal and Jam Kamal Khan trade barbs on Twitter

June 30, 2018

The elections are under way as is political point scoring but some candidates are not having it. Balochistan National Party President Sardar Akhtar Mengal shut down Balochistan Awami Party President Jam Kamal Khan’s attempt to start a feud on Twitter.

Both former National Assembly members are contesting from NA-272 Lasbela-Gwadar.

In his tweet, Khan said the people have always given chances to all parties and stakeholders. He questioned what had been done by the Gwadar MPA and MNA in the last five years. Both positions were held by members of Mengal’s BNP — Syed Essa Noori held the provincial seat.

The BNP head replied that Khan and his family have been part of every government, be it civilian or a dictatorship. He criticised him for doing nothing for Gwadar despite being a federal minister in the last government.

Mengal asked him how many jobs he had given people in Balochistan, especially those in Bela.

Naming the governments that Khan and his family had supported, Mengal listed those of Sikandar Mirza, General Ayub Khan, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Ziaul Haq, Benazir Bhutto, Nawaz Sharif, General (retd) Pervez Musharraf and the previous PML-N government.

“So my question to you is, what have you and your family done for the people of Balochistan?” he asked the former minister.
