There are 15,000 fake doctors in the province, the chairperson of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s health care commission told Chief Justice Saqib Nisar.
The top judge was hearing a case regarding fake doctors practising in the province at the Peshawar registry of the Supreme Court.
“How many times have you taken action against the fake doctors? How many of them have you banned?” the CJ asked the commission’s chairperson, Dr Jehangir Khalil.
Dr Khalil told the court that 122 have been banned from practising in the province.
“How much is your salary?” asked the CJ. Dr Khalil said Rs0.5 million. “You earn so much and your performance is zero,” said the CJ.
Justice Nisar ordered the commission to take action against fake doctors in one week. “I want a report against the fake doctors,” he said.
The commission is a statutory body in KP that was formed to regulate both public and private health care establishment in the province. Its purpose was to improve the quality, safety and efficiency of health care service delivery for all allopathic and homoeopathic doctors as well as tibbs in the province.
