ISLAMABAD: Both witnesses in the Avenfield supplementary reference against Nawaz Sharif and his children are ready to testify, disclosed NAB prosecutor to the court on Friday.
According to details, proceedings of the Avenfield supplementary reference against Nawaz Sharif and his children were conducted at the accountability court.
NAB prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar claimed that both witnesses, Robert W Radley and Akhtar Raja were ready to record their testimonies.
“Both witnesses however, cannot come to Pakistan,” he said.
NAB prosecutor said that the two witnesses were British citizens and the government would have to bear the cost to bring them to Pakistan.
It is pertinent to mention here that the accountability court is hearing corruption references filed by the National Accountability Bureau against Nawaz and his family members, as well as Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, in light of the Supreme Court’s order in the Panama Papers case.
Nawaz Sharif was disqualified on July 28 by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in the Panama Papers case. Ever since then, the former prime minister has targeted judges of the apex court and NAB officials for being partial towards him and those close to him.
