ISLAMABAD: Justice Asif Saeed Khosa Wednesday said the judges did not call anyone ‘The Godfather’ in the landmark ruling of Supreme Court in Panama Papers case announced on July 28 when Nawaz Sharif was disqualified.

Addressing the deputy Attorney General, he queried, “Have you read the Panamagate judgement? Was Nawaz Sharif was called Godfather?”

Deputy Attorney General responded, “No. You did not call Nawaz Sharif Godfather.”

Justice Khosa remarked, “Sicilian Mafia was mentioned with reference to open threats given by Nehal Hashmi,” adding the Sicilian mafia used to kill children of the judges.

He stressed, “Nowhere in the verdict did we mention The Godfather,” adding The Godfather was a hero but the media turned him into villain.

There is a sea of difference between a news and opinion, he added.

Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz lashed out at judges of SC bench that gave Panama verdict in recent rallies, for allegedly using terms ‘Sicilian Mafia and The Godfather’.
