ECP announces election schedule of Nehal Hashmi’s vacant Senate seat

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday announced the Senate election schedule of a seat, which had fallen vacant due to disqualification of Nehal Hashmi.

According to a notification, the election would be held on March 1, 2018, at provincial assembly building Lahore from 0900 hours to 1600 hours and called upon the members of provincial assembly of Punjab to elect a member for the senate from that province against a general seat, which had fallen vacant, due to disqualification of Nehal Hashmi.

The date of public notice by Returning Officer inviting nomination papers would be February 9 while the last date for filing of nomination papers by the candidates with the returning officer would be February 13 between 0900 hours and 1600 hours.

The last date for publication of names of the nominated candidates would be February 14, while the last date for scrutiny of nomination papers would be February 15 (1000 hours to 1600 hours). The last date for filing of appeals against acceptance or rejection of nominations would be February 17 (from 0900 hours to 1600 hours).

The last date for disposal of appeals by the tribunal would be February 19, while the last date for publication of the revised list of candidates would be February 20.

It said that the last date for withdrawal of candidature would be February 21 (between 0900 hours and 1600 hours).
