KOHAT: A second arrest was made on Saturday in connection with the fatal shooting of a medical college student in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province last week, police said.
Aasma Rani, a third-year student of Ayub Medial College Abbottabad, was shot to death in her hometown after she turned down a marriage proposal from an already married man.
The assailant, identified as Mujahidullah Afridi, fled to Saudi Arabia on an Umrah visa shortly after the shooting.
Police approached Interpol to help arrest the absconder and arrested his accomplice Sadiqullah.
Acting on a tip off, police arrested Shahzeb accused of aiding and facilitating Mujahidullah in escaping to Saudi Arabia.
“Accused Sadiqullah who was nominated in FIR No. 20 U/S 302/34, dated 27.1.2018 disclosed during interrogation that Shahzeb s/o Aurangzeb resident of KDA, Kohat aided and facilitated Mujahidullah in escaping after commission of offence,” a statement by Kohat police said.
Further investigation was underway.
