LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Saqib Nisar Tuesday scolded Punjab police for their failure in arrest of culprits as Supreme Court heard Zainab murder case.
In today’s hearing, Additional IG Punjab appeared before the court. He said that no timeframe could be given to the court for arrest of the culprits.
The CJP, expressing his resentment, asked why the murder inquiry has not made any progress so far. “We need the culprits,” he said.
“It would be failure of both government and police if the culprits are not nabbed,” the Chief Justice observed. He said “every mother of the county is worried today.”
The chief justice expressed his concern that parliamentarians of the country have not carried out any legislation even after various such incidents.
Adjourning the hearing till Sunday, the CJP ordered head of forensic laboratory Punjab to appear in the next hearing. In the forthcoming hearing, the apex court will also hear other incidents of child abuse in Kasur.
The Supreme Court has barred Lahore High Court from hearing the incident. – Samaa
