KASUR: The grief and gloom over the brutal incident that happened to little girl Zainab has gripped entire country especially Kasur where violent protest is still in progress on rampage on Thursday.
The atmosphere of the city is filled with gloom and rage ever since the body of seven-year old girl was found dumped on a garbage point on Kashmir Chowk, some hundred yards away from her residence.
Yesterday evening, the infuriated local people hit the roads in outrage. The riot police opened straight fire on the demonstrators at the DCO office, killing three of them.
The funeral prayer for the eternal peace of little Zainab was offered yesterday evening. However, the members of bereaved families of victims who were shot dead by police, declined to bury their dead, saying, “They will continue to protest until they are given justice.”
The furious people are still protesting in different areas of Kasur including Kali Pul Chowk. The demonstrators rampaged through DHQ and took the bodies from the morgue.
With bodies of the dead placed on the roads, the protesters are demanding justice. They have blocked Ferozepur Road that links Kasur to other cities of the country.
Meantime, angry people including students mounted protest demonstration in Lahore at Kalma Chowk. The protesting students blocked the Metro route. The Metro service has been suspended.
In Gujranwala, students took out a rally from DC Office to Jinnah Stadium in protest against the brutal incident against little girl.
The protests were launched in Islamabad also where the students of Quaid-e-Azam University and Federal Urdu University came out on roads to express solidarity with the little girl.
Talking to media, the demonstrators said eyes of every citizen of Pakistan is filled with tears over the tragic incident that occurred to Zainab.
Meantime, students of Faisalabad also raised their voice againt the brutality and inhuman attack on the minor girl. The outraged students blocked Zila Council Chowk.
Talking to Samaa, students said, "Zainab, we are ashamed of ourselves for failing to protect you." They also demanded the government to expedite action in order to provide justice to Zainab.
In Peshawar, the women of the PTI women wing mounted protest outside the Press Club and raised slogans of justice for Zainab. They said the Punjab government failed in protecting the lives of innocent people. The PTI's women workers demanded the government to arrest the killer and hang him publicly.
Meantime, the lawyers also went on strike in different cities protesting against brutality.
