FAISALABAD: A shocking scandal came to the fore when it was discovered that dead bodies were being burned and sold by authorities at Faisalabad's Punjab Medical College (PMC) on Thursday.

According to details, remains of burned bodies were found from inside the compound of Punjab Medical College located in Faisalabad.

Government authorities claimed that on an annual basis as many as 15-18 unclaimed bodies are buried after the proper legal process has been conducted or the corpses are sold to medical colleges.

Punjab Medical College Head of Anatomy Department Dr Anwar Hussain disclosed that corpses were sold on the orders of Vice Chancellor.

"We receive as many as 15 dead bodies annually," he said. "Rs 7,000 cost is incurred to preserve a dead body."

Dr Anwar said that bodies in poor condition are buried.

"Where the rest of the bodies go, I do not know," he said.
