Rahim Yar Khan to become municipal corporation

BAHAWALPUR: The provincial government is mulling over the suggestion to upgrade Rahim Yar Khan Municipality to the Municipal Corporation keeping in view increase its population and requirements of the city.

Official sources said here on Wednesday that a meeting was held in Lahore between Chief Minister, Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and Member National Assembly from Rahim Yar Khan, Imtiaz Ahmed. The Chief Minister agreed to the suggestion furnished by the MNA to upgrade Rahim Yar Khan Municipality to Municipal Corporation.

“I, told the Chief Minister Punjab that population of Rahim Yar Khan city has surged to 0.7 million and inadequate budget of the Municipality did not meet requirement of the city,” Ahmed told the party workers.

He further said that Rahim Yar Khan has several important installations including Sheikh Zaid Hospital, Medical College, IT and Engineering University besides offices and industries of leading national and mutli-national companies. – APP
