KARACHI: Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal said on Tuesday that the government had never adopted a discriminatory attitude towards Karachi.

Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal participated in the opening ceremony of the first Executive Passport Office in Karachi. He said that the government had never discriminated against the city.

"Those who are intent on disrupting the law and order situation of Karachi will be dealt with strictly," he said. "We will not allow anyone to destroy the peace of Karachi."

Ahsan Iqbal did not disclose as to when MQM leader Hammad Siddiqui, who is wanted in the Baldia factory fire case, will be brought back to the country.

The interior minister also took part in a CPEC meeting and praised the role of Chinese investors.

During his visit to Karachi, Ahsan Iqbal advised political opponents not to indulge in practices that would delay elections.

"If PPP and PTI are on the same page on the issue of census, then why are they opposing each other in the Senate?" he wondered.
