ISLAMABAD: Accountability Court Tuesday resumed hearing of three NAB references against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and her husband Captain (retd) Safdar, Samaa reported.
The court has granted one-week exemption to Nawaz Sharif and Maryam from Dec 5 to 11. Both are likely to fly for London today.
In today’s hearing, Captain (retd) Safdar has also filed an application seeking 15-day exemption from personal appearance in the court. Safdar his representative Irfan Awan will attend the hearing in his absence.
On the other hand, prosecution witnesses in the case recorded their statements to Judge Muhammad Bashir.
Nawaz Sharif and his sons have been indicted separately in all three NAB references – Flagship Investment Co, Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Sharif family’s Avenfield Properties in London, while Maryam and Safdar have been named only in the Avenfield reference.
Yesterday, the court declared Sharif’s sons Hassan and Hussain Nawaz as proclaimed offenders in the NAB case.
Also, Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected the plea of Nawaz Sharif and family to review its decision on clubbing of all three references. – Samaa
