According to the meteorological department’s forecast, more rain will descend upon Karachi. The Met Office said in a press release that a “westerly wave” was expected to enter Pakistan from Sunday, which would produce rain with snowfall over the hills from Sunday to Wednesday. As a result, the cold wave is likely to prevail in most parts of Balochistan and Sindh, including Karachi, during the coming week.

“Rain and thunderstorm is expected at isolated places in northeast Balochistan [and] Sindh on Sunday and Monday,” said a press release of the Met Office. According to the forecast, weather in the city would remain partly cloudy today and the minimum temperature would range between 10 and 14 degrees Celsius. Moreover, Siberian winds are likely to continue in Karachi until afternoon and their speed may increase up to 45km/h.

As a result of the downpour late Sunday night, the temperature of the city dropped.

Unfortunately, soon after the first drop of rain, power breakdowns were reported in different parts of the city.

Pools of water also accumulated on the streets and roads, affecting the movement of traffic.

A large number of people took to Twitter to express their reactions to the hailstorm in Karachi, which reportedly happened after four years. Take a look at the reactions here.
