KARACHI: Renowned writer Ibrahim Joyo, who was sometimes referred to as the ‘Voice of the Century’ passed away on Thursday at the age of 102.
Joyo rendered much of his services for the people of Sindh and his literary works in the Sindhi language are quite popular as well.
Ibrahim Joyo will be laid to rest in his ancestral city Jamshoro.
According to his grandson Mohsin Joyo, Ibrahim was suffering from breathing complications a few days prior to his death.
Joyo wrote 52 books some of which include translations of Rousseau, Plutarch, Voltaire, Paulo Freire, TS Elliot, Shelley, Rabindranath Tagore, Stefan Zweig and Francis Bacon.
The Sindh Bar Council and Sindh High Court Bar Association announced a day of mourning and stayed away from the court proceedings here Thursday after demise of iconic literary legend.
The office bearers of the SBC and SHCBA expressed grief over demise of Joyo who passed away at the age of 102 years in Hyderabad on Thursday morning. – SAMAA
