HYDERABAD: Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will attend a ceremony in connection with the Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai today (Monday).

The PPP Chairman will visit the shrine of Shah Abdul latif Bhitai as strict security arrangements including walkthrough gates have been put in place ahead of his arrival.

The celebrations of 274 Urs of great mystic saint and poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai began at Bhit Shah on Saturday with devotees from all over the world attending the Urs ceremonies in Bhit Shah, the last resting place of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.

Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai (1689 to 1752) was a noted Sufi poet and saint widely considered to be the greatest poet of Sindhi language.

His collected poems were assembled in the compilation Shah Jo Risalo, which exists in numerous versions and has been translated into English, Urdu, and several other languages.

Adequate arrangements have been made to facilitate the visitors.

The district administration has adopted strict security arrangements with deployment of Rangers and police and installation of walk-through gates and CCTV cameras.

The Sindh Government announced a holiday on November 4, 2017 to commemorate the Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.

Thousands of devotees pay homage to the great mystic poet and participate in the Urs celebrations.

Adequate arrangements are made to facilitate the visitors who pay homage to the Sufi saint and stringent security measures are undertaken to avoid any untoward incident. --Samaa
