Faizabad sit-in: 73 protestors released, 47 sent to Adiala Jail

November 30, 2017

ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) Thursday released 73 protestors of Faizabad sit-in on bail and extended judicial remand of 47 others.

According to our correspondent, the arrested protestors were produced by police before ATC judge Shahrukh Arjumand, who heard their bail applications.

The judge approved bail applications of 73 detainees and extended judicial remand of 47 others. Officials said an identity parade was held for the 47 accused, who were later shifted to Adiala Jail.

The development came four days after supporters of a religious party ended their 20-day sit-in after Law Minister Zahid Hamid’s resignation.

The court ordered the released protesters to submit surety bonds worth Rs.10,000.

Among the released protesters, 41 were held at Aabpara police station, 16 at Khanna police station and 16 at I-9 police station, police said. – Samaa
