COAS telephones PM, suggests him to “handle Islamabad dharna situation peacefully”

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa telephoned Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and discussed the ongoing situation regarding the crackdown on protesters in Islamabad and Karachi, Samaa reported.

According to a tweet by DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor, COAS telephoned the prime minister and suggested him to handle the Islamabad sit-in situation peacefully and avoid violence from both sides as it is not in national interest and cohesion.

It should be noted that one security personnel was killed and 135 people were wounded in when protesters of a religious party and security forces clashed in Islamabad’s Faizabad Interchange and other parts of country.
