ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal has arrived at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) after the court summoned him and interior secretary over the non-implementation of its order, as the protest sit-in is in progress despite the judicial order.
Resuming the hearing regarding the Islamabad sit-in on Monday, Chief Justice Justice Shaukat Siddiqui voiced displeasure saying that the government failed to comply with the court order to clear the protest by 10am on Saturday despite clear-cut directions to the local administration.
He also warned he will issue a ‘contempt of court’ order in this regard and directed the interior minister to appear before the court today.
The daily commuters moving in and out of the twin cities are still facing hardships as the Faizabad Interchange demonstrators declined to call off their protest, which enters its fifteenth day today. –SAMAA
