Qandeel Baloch murder: Mufti Qavi remanded to two-day police custody

MULTAN: A local court on Monday extended two-day physical remand of Mufti Abdul Qavi who was under investigation in connection with the murder of model and singer Qandeel Baloch.

According to the prosecution, police produced the cleric before Magistrate Muhammad Pervez Khan after expiry of his previous four-day physical remand and sought his custody for another two days.

Investigation Officer SI Asif Shahzad produced prime suspect Waseem and facilitator Haq Nawaz in the court of District and Sessions Judge Ameer Muhammad Khan.

He informed the police that another accused Mufti Abdul Qavi was on physical remand and challan of the case was incomplete.

He requested the court to grant more time for presenting the challan.

Judge Ameer Muhammad ordered the investigation officer to present the challan in the court on November 20.

Taxi driver Basit and Aslam Shaheen, a brother of the deceased, are on bail while Arif, one of the accused, has been declared a proclaimed offender as he is living abroad.

The social media sensation was strangulated to death by her brother in the name of honor killing, days after her selfies with Mufti Qavi went viral.  – -SAMAA
