KARACHI: The latest victim of the notorious Karachi knife attacker has turned out to be a hoax as police found out the boy had wounded himself to stay home from work.

According to police, Noman slashed himself across the arm to lend credence to his fake story that he was attacked by the Karachi knifeman.

After police questioned Noman, the boy changed his statement several times in panic.  At last, he admitted that he was not attacked by the notorious slasher but had cut himself in order to secure a leave of absence from office.

Noman had attacked himself on Saturday and blamed the Karachi knife attacker, who has been targeting women in the city's Gulistan-e-Johar area since the past two weeks.

Apparently, Noman had slashed himself after the company where he was working had denied his request for leaves.
