WASHINGTON: US Acting Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Alice Wells will arrive in Pakistan on Thursday, Samaa reported.
She is expected to call upon the civil and military leadership during her visit to the country.
She will be the first high-level US official to arrive in Pakistan after President Donald Trump accused Pakistan of protecting and facilitating terrorists.
Affairs regarding the region will be discussed during the meetings whereas she will also discuss Pakistan’s role in the reconciliation process in Afghanistan.
Pakistan’s bilateral ties with India and Afghanistan are also expected to be discussed in the meetings.
The details of US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s trip to Pakistan are likely to be finalized in the state visit.
