PAKTIA: Umar Mansoor Naray, the mastermind of the APS Peshawar massacre, has been reportedly killed in Afghanistan.

According to several media reports, Umar Mansoor Naray was severely injured in a drone strike in Afghanistan a day earlier.

The hospital in Paktia where Mansoor was admitted for medical treatment confirmed news of his death. The notorious militant was not only the mastermind of the massacre of 144 children in the Army Public School massacre but was also chief of the banned outfit Jamaat-u-Ahraar.

Eight other senior commanders of Jamaat-ul-Ahraar were also killed in the drone strike with Mansoor.

Mansoor had parted ways with Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and formed Jamaat-ul-Ahraar after the outfit had chosen Mullah Fazlullah as its Amir following the death of Baitullah Mehsud.

After Mansoor's death now Usman Manzoor has been appointed as the new head of the banned outfit.

Former spokesperson of Jamaat-ul-Ahraar, Ehsanullah Ehsan, had revealed that Umar Mansoor used to say that even if Israel would aid him in destabilizing Pakistan, he would accept their help.
