Thousands march to show solidarity with Rohingya Muslims

KARACHI/LAHORE: In order to express solidarity with the Rohingya Muslims, people from every walk of life staged protest in different cities, condemning military-led genocide of minority in Myanmar.

A large rally was organized by Jamaat-e-Islami in Karachi where thousands of JI supporters, including women, marched from Mazar-e-Quad to Tibet Center, chanting slogans against Myanmar government, carrying placards, banners and portraits of Rohingya Muslims.

The rally was addressed by JI Karachi chapter chief Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman, who urged the government to held Rohingya Muslims and sever diplomatic ties with Myanmar.

JI also organized a large rally in Faisalabad where the party chief Siraj-ul-Haq addressed his workers. He called upon the government to close down Myanmar embassy in Pakistan in protest against persecution of Rohingya Muslims.

The rallies on the issue were also taken out by different political parties and NGOs outside Karachi Press Club.

Religious and political parties also protested in Lahore and other cities of Punjab on Sunday to express solidarity with the persecuted Muslim minority of Myanmar. – Samaa
