NEWS DESK: At least seven people were killed on Sunday when a remote-controlled bomb went off at a roadside in Bajaur Agency's Loye Mamond area, said officials.
Local Tehsildar Fawad Ali and at least five Levies personnel were among the people who lost their lives.
Ali was on his way to attend a meeting in Garigal area when his vehicle was targeted with a remote-control explosive device, killing him and four Levies personnel on the spot. All the bodies were shifted to the agency headquarters hospital. The injured have been shifted to the district hospital.
Anwarul Haq, another tribal official, confirmed that the device was detonated remotely and that a search for the perpetrators was underway.
Security forces have cordoned off the blast site and a search operation is being conducted.
