ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal called upon the participants of the protest rally of religious parties to remain peaceful.

In a statement, the federal minister said, “It is incumbent on us as Muslims to express solidarity with the Muslims of Myanmar.”

“It is also our duty to protect Diplomatic Enclave,” Ahsan Iqbal said requesting the protesters to respect Red Zone.

Resorting to violence in the rally will not benefit the Muslims of Myanmar, he added.

It should be mentioned here that Jamaat-e-Islami chief Siraj-ul-Haq had earlier announced to hold a protest march in Islamabad today from Aabpara Chowk.

The protest rally will proceed to Myanmar’s embassy in the federal capital, Siraj announced.

The JI chief has urged the government to expel Myanmar’s ambassador from the country over military-led violence against Muslim minority in Myanmar.

“Our protest will continue till wrongs against them come to an end,” he said, while addressing a gathering here.

The JI will also hold a protest rally in Karachi on 10 September from Mazar-e-Quaid to Tibet Center on the main M.A Jinnah Road. – Samaa
