KARACHI: Founder Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif has refrained his nephew Hamza Shahbaz to participate in the electioneering of NA-120 by-elections, citing sources Samaa reported.
According to sources, the disqualified premier had summoned his brother Shahbaz Sharif, nephew Hamza Shehbaz and close aide Pervez Malik at his residence of Jati Umra.
In the meeting, he handed the responsibilities of the campaigning to Pervez Malik, who suggested that Hamza Shahbaz can perform the duties better than him. However, the PML-N founder rejected his suggestion.
Sources also said that Hamza Shahbaz said in the meeting that he was a worker and would like to work for the party in that capacity.
However, representative of the ousted prime minister said that the PML-N leader will be in Lahore and will fully take part in the election campaign.
The NA-120 Lahore seat fell vacant after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in a landmark judgment in the Panama Papers case.
The polling will be held on September 17.
