ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court against verdict of Panama Papers case.
In his petition filed through his counsel Tariq Hasan, he maintained that the JIT overstepped its mandate and the verdict was given without going through the record.
Dar prayed to the court to dismiss all petitions by annulling July 28 ruling. He also raised questions over the appointment of a monitoring judge to oversee the investigations of corruption references by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

“The judicial ruling is flawed as the entire provided record was not looked into thoroughly,” it said.
In his nine-page plea, Ishaq Dar said the increase in his assets spanned over 16 years but as finance minister, his assets dwindled by Rs.540 million.
The petition states the objections against the JIT report was not considered in the ruling, adding, “How did two judges who did not hear the case become a part to the ruling?”

Making strong exception to the appointment of a judge to monitor the NAB proceedings in references against Sharif family and Dar family, he said the appointment will have direct bearing on the trial.
It should be mentioned here that the apex court disqualified Nawaz Sharif in Panama case and ordered the corruption watchdog to initiate inquiry into Ishaq Dar’s assets beyond his known income. –SAMAA
