ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has been moved against the formation of Parliament’s ethics committee in order to probe ‘the inappropriate messages’ received by former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member Ayesha Gulalai from different party leaders including Imran Khan.

The petition filed by a citizen Riaz Haneef said the forum of National Assembly is meant to legislate and brainstorm issues of national importance.

The petitioner said formation of the Parliamentary committee is based on ill-will and it will lead to the wastage of precious time and national money.

The petitioner challenged the formation of the ethics committee saying Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi exceeding his powers by instituting the committee.

The petitioner also criticized the order to provide the security to Ayesha Gulalai.

The petition took National Assembly speaker, PM Abbasi, Ayesha Gulalai, Imran Khan and IG as respondents in the case. –SAMAA
