NEWS DESK: As strong monsoon currents are penetrating the upper parts of the country and are likely to continue during the next two to three days, thunderstorms with isolated heavy downpour are expected in the next 48 hours in parts of Kashmir, upper Punjab and northern areas.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls are expected in the next 48 hours at a number of places in Kashmir, upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha and Faisalabad divisions), Islamabad, Hazara, Mirpurkhas and Hyderabad divisions as well as scattered spots in FATA, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. Thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls are also expected at isolated places in Multan, DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Zhob, Kalat, Sukkur, Larkana and Shaheed Benazirabad.

Meanwhile, seasonal low lies over north Balochistan while weak monsoon currents are penetrating the southern parts of the country, said the Met Office.

During the past 24 hours, thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls hit a number of places in Islamabad and Rawalpindi division as well as scattered areas in Faisalabad, Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar and Mirpurkhas divisions and Kashmir. Scattered rains were also reported in Lahore, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Sahiwal and Hyderabad divisions.

K-P: Kakul 26, Risalpur 13, Malamjabba 09, Balakot 03, Saidu Sharif, Lower Dir 02, Cherat 01

Sindh: Islamkot 64, Nagarparkar 50, Dhahli 30, Mithi 22, Chhor 21, Chachro 12, Diplo 10, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas 08, Badin Trace

Kashmir: Kotli 09, Muzaffarabad 07.

Meanwhile, the highest recorded temperatures in the past 24 hours were: Dalbandin 43°C and Chillas 42°C.
