KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party’s Saeed Ghani has secured victory in by-election for Sindh Assembly constituency, PS-114, Karachi, according to unofficial results.

The unofficial result of all 92 polling stations shows that Saeed Ghani has obtained 23,840 votes. He secured a lead of 5,734 votes over the runner up.

MQM’s Kamran Tessori secured second position with 18106 votes.

PML-N is on the third, PTI on fourth while Jamaat-e-Islami is on the fifth position.

PML-N’s Ali Akbar Gujjar has obtained 53,53 votes while PTI’s Muhammad Najeeb Haroon secured 50,98 votes, while JI's Zahoor Ahmed Jadoon got 1661 votes,  according to initial results.

Ghani was supported by ANP, JUI, Sunni Tehreek, Majlis-e-Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen (MWM) in the election.

PPP has secured the victory on this seat after a gape of 29 years.

The vote count begun after 5:00pm as polling concluded.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will later announce the official result of the voting in all 92 polling stations of the constituency.

Tight security arrangements were made for smooth conduct of polling; however, clashes between political workers were witnessed in the constituency.

All political parties blamed each other for rigging.

DG Rangers Major General Mohammad Saeed visited various polling stations and expressed satisfaction over the polling process in peace-full manner.

Talking to media after visiting, he said that people have come out to cast their votes without any fear. He said security personnel will remain there till the end of polling process. – Samaa
