Cop run over: MPA Majeed Achakzai arrested

QUETTA: Member of Balochistan Assembly and Chairman Public Accounts Committee, Abdul Majeed Achakzai has been arrested for running his vehicle over a traffic police in Quetta.

According to police, personnel of Civil Line police station led by SHO Khalil Bugti conducted action in Satellite Town at 3am in the night and arrested the member of Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party MPA Dr Abdul Majeed Khan Achakzai.

The MPA has been shifted to Civil Line police station.

It was June 20 when Achakzai’s vehicle was racing along GPO Chowk intersection when it hit Traffic Sub-Inspector Haji Ataullah, who was performing his duty in the middle of the road.

The sub-inspector was critically injured. He was rushed to Civil Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Following the incident, a criminal case was lodged at the Civil Lines Police Station against the unknown accused owing to the political clout of Achakzai.

The video of the mishap went viral on social media.

Achakzai was elected to the provincial assembly from Killa Abdullah on PB-13. –SAMAA
