ISLAMABAD: After Nehal Hashmi's incendiary speech against those who were probing Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the premier has asked the senator to resign as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) revoked his party membership on Wednesday.
According to details, the Prime Minister asked Nehal Hashmi to resign as senator after PML-N issued a show-case notice to him.
"The Prime Minister has declared Nehal Hashmi's speech as an irresponsible one," said a PML-N spokesperson.
Speaking to SAMAA TV, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb confirmed that Nehal's party membership was suspended and that he had been issued a show-cause notice.
"Statements against legal institutions will not be tolerated," she said.
It should be noted that Hashmi, in his remarks on Wednesday, said that the people and officials demanding the accountability of Sharif family will not be spared.
“”We are the workers of PML-N. All of you who are asking for accountability, we will make a day of accountability for you,” Nehal had said.
The PML-N leader had also said that all those who are holding the Sharif family accountable and are demanding accountability of the PML-N family are serving today but will retire tomorrow.
The speech from Nehal Hashmi comes one day after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's son Hussain Nawaz appeared before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on Tuesday and recorded his statement.
