KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Monday ordered IG Sindh to continue serving at his post and extended the stay order for Sindh's police chief, Samaa reported.

According to details, an appeal filed by the Sindh government to dispel the stay order issued in the AD Khawaja case was rejected by Sindh High Court. The Advocate General presented a 15-year record of the appointment of Sindh IGs.

As per the written reply submitted in court, during the past 15 years (2002-2017), 13 I.Gs have been appointed for the province. It was also argued that appointment of IGs are the prerogative of the Sindh government.

It was also stated that if an agreement was not reached among three names for the post of IG Sindh, then the advice of the federal government is sought. A copy of the 1993 agreement in this regard was also submitted for the bench to consider.

The Sindh High Court delayed proceedings of the case till April 19.
