KARACHI: Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) took down a markhor mural painted by an Italian painter at Jinnah International Airport in order to build a canteen, SAMAA reported.

The mural was a joint collaboration of Vasl with Consulate of Italy. It was painted by Maurizio Boscheri and supported by Civil Aviation Authority.

It should be noted that markhor — the country’s national animal — stood out in the mural before it was taken down by the national aviation agency. It was painted to highlight the close bilateral ties between Pakistan and Italy.

Italy’s diplomatic mission in Pakistan had mentioned that the passengers, leaving the premises will be able to have a look at the mural.

The artist had curated an exhibition named “Wildly Ours: Past, Present and Future of Pakistan’s Wildlife: in which oil paintings of tigers, wolves, foxes and snow leopards were exhibitied.

Boscheri, a staunch wildlife supporter, began artistic creation in 1997 without any professional training. His works have been exhibited in many high class exhibitions across the world.
