Sehwan protesters go on rampage ahead of PM, army chief’s visit

SEHWAN: Members of families affected by Thursday’s bomb blast at Lal Shahbaz Qalandar’s shrine protested in Sehwan city on Friday, torching police van.

According to our correspondent, police responded with aerial firing after the protestors went on rampage.

Earlier, a large number of devotees gathered outside closed gate of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar’s shrine, a day after a bomb blast killed more than 70 people. The devotees were protesting against failure of police to ensure security at the sufi saint’s shrine.

The incident triggered countrywide security crackdown. Since Thursday, the security forces have killed around 40 terrorists in raids and search operations.

The protest came hours before the visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa to Sehwan civil hospital where they inquired after the health of injured.  - Samaa
