Google honors ‘Angel of Mercy’ – Abdul Sattar Edhi

February 27, 2017

Google paid a tribute to renowned philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi (late) on Monday with its Doodle honors on the eve of his 89th birthday.

Google displayed a photo on his homepages in various countries including Australia, portraying him with the ambulance of Edhi foundation, a mother with two kids, hospital home, pet dog and a book.

The search engine giant praised Edhi for helping people all around the world.

Edhi was born in India on February 28 1928 but moved to Karachi shortly after Pakistan was formed. He soon noticed that many Pakistanis lacked medicine, education, and other essentials, and he made it his life’s mission to help others.

In 1951, he established the Edhi foundation, which is funded solely by private donations.

The Edhi foundation has helped thousands of people around the world in times of need, including survivors of Hurricane Katrina and thousands of Pakistani orphans.

The foundation provides super-efficient ambulance service, and Edhi ambulances are welcomed as friendly neighbors throughout Pakistan.
