PM inaugurates Metro Bus service in Multan

MULTAN: After Lahore and Islamabad, the multi-billion rupee Metro Bus service was inaugurated in Multan by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Samaa reported Tuesday. The 18.5 km long track completed at a cost of over Rs.28 billion in 20 months. Initially, 35 buses will operate to transport nearly 95,000 commuters daily. MULTAN: After Lahore and Islamabad, the multi-billion rupee Metro Bus service was inaugurated in Multan by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Samaa reported Tuesday.

The 18.5 km long track completed at a cost of over Rs.28 billion in 20 months. Initially, 35 buses will operate to transport nearly 95,000 commuters daily.

Escalators, lifts, generators, expansion joints and launching pads of the project have been imported from Europe. Officials said the number of buses will be increased if needed.

Punjab government will also run shuttles on a feeder route to let commuters reach metro track from different parts of the city. – Samaa/APP
