ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued a show-cause notice to Bol TV’s management, seeking their reply within 14 days.
The show cause notice stated Labbaik (Pvt) Ltd. is licensee of PEMRA for the satellite TV channels ‘Bol News (formerly Jinnah TV)’ and Bol Entertainment (formerly AKS TV).
The show cause quoted Sindh High Court’s order dated 3-7-2015 that states: “In the circumstances, the first petition bearing Const. Petition No. D-2867 of 2013 being premature without cause and therefore, is dismisses. However in the circumstances, we direct Ministry of Interior to process the security clearance as per practice in vogue and once the issue of security clearance is finalized either way the authority would proceed in accordance with law…”
PEMRA said that security clearance/credibility and track record of the directors of the company is mandatory. The ministry of interior is pursuance of the directions passed by SHC has regretted the security clearance of four directors of the company, it added.
The regulatory body directed the Bol TV to show case within 14 days as to why legal action should not be taken based against the company.
The Chief Executive Officer of the company is also directed to appear for personal hearing on January 6, 2017 at PEMRA Headquarters, Islamabad.
