KARACHI: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested two suspected militants involved in 28 terrorist activities in Karachi, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said on Monday.

Addressing a press conference, Shah said that the accused are identified as Ishaq alias Boby and Asim alias Capri, who he said are affiliated with Lashkar-e-Jhangvi’s Naeem Bukhari group.

He said the suspects were involved in nine key terrorist activities including killings of two army men on July 26, seven policemen during anti-polio campaign, traffic police personnel at Aisha Manzil. The CM said that the suspects were also involved in the killing of Sufi singer Amjad Sabri.

He said the accused Asim is neighbour of Amjad Sabri.

Shah dispelled the impression that some particular community is being targeted in Karachi operation, saying that the action is being taken only against terrorists.

He said former PPP senator Faisal Raza Abidi was arrested over possession of illegal weapons, while Mirza Yousuf was arrested in different cases already registered against him. –Samaa

The chief minister appealed to the citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in the ongoing operation against criminal elements.
