KARACHI: Two Lashkar-e-Jhangvi terrorists suspected of killing 28 people including Sufi singer Amjad Sabri and army jawans, were handed to counter-terrorism department (CTD) on a 14-day physical remand.

The accused identified as Ishaq alias Boby and Asim alias Capri, are affiliated with Lashkar-e-Jhangvi’s Naeem Bukhari group.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali yesterday announced the arrest of the LeJ men.

Addressing a press conference, Shah said that the suspects were involved in nine key terrorist activities including killings of two army men on July 26, seven policemen during anti-polio campaign, traffic police personnel at Aisha Manzil.

They were also involved in the killing of Sufi singer Amjad Sabri because he would frequent Shia majalis .

One of the two accused Asim is a neighbour of Amjad Sabri.

The CTD produced the suspects in the ant-terrorism court amid strident security arrangements.

Meanwhile, the Sindh Home Department set up a joint investigation team to interrogate the LeJ men.

SDP CTD Shahid Hayat will head the committee comprising police, Rangers, MI, IB and SIU officials.

The committee has been tasked to complete its investigations in nine days. SAMAA
