ISLAMABAD: Police have arrested security officer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf senior leader Jahangir Tareen during crackdown against the party for its Nov 2 Islamabad lockdown plan, Samaa reported Friday.

According to our correspondent, Tareen’s personal security officer, Ejaz Ahmed was arrested in Islamabad outside Imran Khan’s Bani Gali residence that has been put under siege.

“They are frustrated, using state machinery against us. This will lead to a severe tension and agitation for which Prime Minister Nawaz will be responsible,” Tareen said, while speaking to Samaa. He condemned the arrest of his personal security officer.

Islamabad police have almost sealed Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

All roads leading to Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence have been closed with shipping container as government went ahead with its plan to foil the protest plan.

Sources said PTI chairman Imran Khan has finalised its plan to deal with the government following a clash between the party workers and police in Islamabad as part of crackdown.

The Islamabad district administration has banned all public gatherings for two months under Section 144.

Yesterday, police raided PTI youth convention, charging activists with batons and arresting dozens of people.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan has called on his party workers to lay siege to Islamabad on Nov 2 until Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif resigns or presents himself for accountability in the backdrop of the Panama Papers leaks.

Following the clash, Khan announced countrywide protests against the government.

There will be a heavy police and FC presence in Islamabad to deter protesters, with confrontation now appearing inevitable, as authorities have sealed various roads in Islamabad.

On the other hand, tension gripped Rawalpindi where arrest warrants for Khan’s ally Sheikh Rashid Ahmed were issued. He is due to address a news conference today at 2:00, calling upon workers to violate the Section 144 in his support. – Samaa/Agencies
